Friday Favorites...Peace out February

 shop stripe t here
Whoa...February was an extremely busy but fun month for us and I really hate seeing it come to an end. Looking back I'm just thankful that we survived all of the craziness and excitement this month had to bring. Our daughter turned 14 and I'm still trying to figure out how that happened so quick! My favorite birthday tradition for my kiddos is burning their candles down a year on their birthday. It's a tradition that I grew up with and hope they continue it for their kids later on down the road. I hope you enjoy my favorites from the week and I guess it's time to start thinking about our Oscar menu for Sunday night...will you be watching?

Try It Tuesday...Margarita Recipes

Unfortunately we were unable to partake in National Margarita Day yesterday but I'm not going to sweat it. Margarita's are a weekend staple around here so we'll be sure to make up for it. I've linked my previous margarita recipes in case you want to give them a try. It is taco Tuesday and there's nothing better than tacos and tequila. Cheers friends...

Friday Favorites...

meyer lemons
And just like that it's Friday again and this week went from 0 to 90 in a heartbeat. Good thing it was #nationalwineday yesterday because it's exactly what I needed last night.  We have a busy next couple of days but looking forward to them and to maybe sleeping in a tad.  I've had spring on my mind all week and it can't get here soon enough. Hope you enjoy my favorites from the week and TGIF!

Try It Tuesday...Tatcha Skincare

All I can say is that the geisha's know what's up when it comes to beautiful skin. So how 'bout a line that is inspired by their beauty rituals? I stumbled upon Tatcha's skincare line while browsing the aisles of Sephora about a month ago. I decided to try a sample of the rice enzyme powder to cleanse my face and after two weeks I noticed a huge difference in my skin. This cleanser is legit and I highly recommend you try it if you're looking for an everyday exfoliator, cleanser & toner. Read more about the products here and be sure to pick up the dewy skin mist! I'm looking forward to purchasing the cleansing oil next.

Friday Favorites...Valentine's Day Weekend

valentine's day 'rita recipe
It's been a good week y'all. My parents are in town visiting and we are ready to enjoy a fun weekend with crazy warm temperatures. Mom & I have found some great deals shopping and hoping to find many more today. We don't have any big plans for Valentine's day but that's just the way I like it. I am stressing out a little over not having a delicious valentine dessert to dive into but I'm sure that will work itself out. Lots of love to you all this weekend and TGIF!

Try It Tuesday...Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28

Have y'all seen Olivia Palermo's Spring ready to wear line collaboration with Nordstrom that just landed in stores yesterday? I've always admired her sense of style and her ability to mix low and high pieces that work together. BTW...if you're in the market for a fun blue faux fur vest I found this similar one for the "look for less".  I remember wearing culottes as a kid and I love how she used frayed hems to update their look. These are definitely on my list to try for spring. Her collection, minus a few items can basically be worn all year long which is always good when you're trying to stretch your dollars!  Shop her full collection here.

Friday Favorites...Birthday Week!

arrow mix sprinkles
February is one of my favorite months. I adore everything about it..the pink & red, all the hearts, valentine's day, family visits and let's not forget about birthday celebrations. How can we not celebrate all month long? I couldn't wait to break out these heart & arrow sprinkles that I stumbled upon awhile back. So cute right?  In my opinion, every valentine needs a little sprinkle of these. We started off my birthday week strong, caught up mid-week with friends for dinner at one of our local mexican restaurants and will be ending it watching Superbowl 50. Who else will be watching and will it be the Bronco's or Panther's my friends?

Try It Tuesday...Paloma!

Summer like temps calls for summer like drinks around our house. Our weather here in Houston was in the high 70's last weekend and I made a new drink for us to celebrate with. Sundays are usually for margarita's but I switched gears this time and made paloma's. After researching this drink online, I read that it's Mexico's favorite drink, not a margarita. I'm not sure I believe this but I do believe that we will be making these again because they were out of this world good. I settled on a version of this recipe and did use jalapeños in my homemade simple syrup because sometimes we make our margarita's with a little heat. P.S. Making your own simple syrup is super duper easy.  Cheers to the paloma...
tequila (I prefer blanco or silver)
simple syrup  (homemade directions below)
PURE grapefruit juice (I used lakewood organics)
grapefruit sparkling water (I used la croix)
2 jalapenos (if you like spicy)
sugar (for simple syrup if making your own)
How to make simple syrup
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and then add in 1 cup of sugar. (If you want to make a bigger batch, it's always equal parts water & sugar.) Stir sugar until dissolved. If you want to add some heat this is where your jalapeños come in. Slice and remove seeds and membrane and if not using disposable gloves remember to not touch your face or eyes! I used two jalapeños and thought it was just the right amount of heat. Simmer for about 7-10 minutes and remove. Strain your mix and let cool. Keep the extra in an airtight jar and store in fridge.
Let's make a paloma
1 oz tequila
1 oz simple syrup
2-3 oz grapefruit juice
juice of 1 lime
splash of sparkling water
Mix the above ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake and use strainer to pour into a salt rimmed glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of jalapeno or lime wedge and enjoy!
*If you like a little stronger drink use 2 oz of tequila
this & this takes your drink game to the next level
