Try It Tuesday-Turmeric Milk Recipe

Other than turmeric being good for you this drink is so tasty that you'll want to make a big batch of it to warm up a cup for yourself everyday.  Even if you aren't a health fanatic you'll find yourself craving this drink. Plus it doesn't hurt that you're being healthy and bumping your immune system up a notch this time of year. I ran across this recipe on the Naked Cuisine blog by Chantelle and I knew I had to make it asap.  I made a few minor adjustments to her recipe just because it's what I had on hand and didn't feel like making another trip to the store. Anyway, I used ground ginger instead of fresh, 1 tsp of cinnamon instead of 2 and I sprinkled my cardamom in instead of using a pod. Oh, I also forgot to take out my peppercorns so they were blended with my drink both times I made it. LOL-I actually like it and will keep making it that way. Actually turns out that peppercorns help the absorbtion of the curcumin (main active ingredient in turmeric) so just an added bonus for moi. Click here for her recipe.

Ignore the vanilla in the pic...decided against it!

Wine & Cheese OOTD Inspo...

What to Wear

My love for California and wine runs deep if you don't already know that about me. So I was super stoked when I was asked to put together an outfit for a wine and cheese event that The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA is hosting this month. This outfit says "Wine and Dine" me like no other. The flared denim makes this outfit casual but the animal print gives it a dressier feel for such a fun event. I've been trying to stay away from the faux fur vests but I just can't help myself this time of year and especially around the holidays. Be sure to scroll down to view this magnificent west coast resort.

Friday Favorites...

similar stan's but in a fun color
This week has flown by so so fast. I'm not sure if it's because my parents were in town for a visit and just left a couple of days ago or if it's just the hustle & bustle of a pre holiday week. I broke my own fashion rules by wearing white shoes after Labor Day this week...Yikes! I love my Stan Smith's so much and don't they just remind you of Christmas with the white and green? They were a birthday present this past year and they are needing some major love. Think I'll wear them all winter long so they are nice and broken in for spring! Enjoy the weekend everyone...

Friday Favorites...

Daily walk with these sneakers
My weekday mornings always include walking our maltipoo, Junie B, after I come home from the gym. She loves to run/walk and knows just how to look at me so I'll give in and take her even when I plan not to.  I don't really mind since I burn a few more calories and it's easier to justify having an extra cocktail or dessert! This weekend our son will play his last youth championship football game (going to the turf bowl the 4th year in a row) with the same boys he's been playing with for 4 years and I have to say it's bittersweet. We've made some great friends through his team and have been fortunate to be surrounded by some truly awesome people. Below are my favorites and hope you guys have a wonderful weekend...TGIF!
My favorite quilt to use for bedding
So happy that I have these rain boots

*I was a little hesitant about these boots but they have been the best purchase I've made in awhile! If you're on the fence, go for won't be disappointed!

Winter Sleepwear

Winter Sleepwear

Today I'm linking my favorite winter sleepwear and do you notice a pattern here? Everything I picked is red, white and black! Oh well, but there's nothing better than coming home and slipping into comfortable pajamas to lounge in around the house at night. My all time favorite are Soma embraceable long sleeve pj tops & bottoms and they are 25% off right now using the code 22267. The pants come in 3 different lengths so it's perfect if you are tall or on the shorter side.  Get 'em while you won't regret it.

Try It Tuesday...Guest Room Essentials

The holidays are almost here...Yay! We have a steady flow of guests throughout the year except for during the holiday season. But for those of you who have guests this time of year here are a few tips to making your guest feel at home. So this Thanksgiving will be our fifth year here in Houston and I can't even believe it's been that long considering our stay here was to be much shorter. Anyway, when I was putting together our guest room I made sure to tag a specific drawer in the nightstand for our guests in case they forgot anything because we all know how that goes. I put this tag on so they know it is for them and they are welcome to anything in the drawer. Look below to see what I keep for my guests and let me know if there is anything else that I should add. I seem to have the lotion area covered!
Safe travels this holiday season if you are traveling and here's to getting your own guest room ready!

The time change has me all out of sorts this week but I have to say I'm thankful for this extra hour. These black boots have been on my radar for quite some time and I'm thinking about putting them on my Christmas list. It will be here before you know it...59 days and counting actually. TGIF!

Try It Tuesday...Overnight Oats

I know there have been a million recipes you've come across for overnight oats but just in case here's one to try or to follow loosely. My green smoothie is going to take a back seat this week to this jar of healthy, easy deliciousness. What I love most is that they are ready to eat in the morning. So easy to grab and go when you need to eat breakfast on the run. FYI-I used a 12 oz glass mason jar and this recipe fills up half of it. In the past I've substituted maple syrup with blue agave or even honey. Also, use any milk that you prefer and add some fruit. Blueberries made the cut for ours this week. Enjoy!
