Try It Tuesday...Dreamy DIY Dreamsicles!

Dreamsicle's have always been a summer favorite of mine. There's nothing like the taste of the right combo of creamy and orange for a frozen dessert on hot days. I've been wanting to make my own for awhile now and when I came across zipzicles in World Market a couple of weeks ago I instantly threw them in my cart. Don't get me wrong,  popsicle molds are the way to go most of the time but the thought of not having to deal with sticks and cleaning out molds was right up my alley, especially for a quick "snack on the go" or when we're lounging by the pool.  Click here for the recipe I found using coconut milk (I did use the sweetened version) and here for the zipzicles.  Yes, they are BPA free and I'm thinking I might even fill them with lemonade or my favorite smoothies!

Friday Favorites...what's in my bag?

I was honored when Vanessa over at Vanessa's Runway asked me to be a part of her What's in my Bag series earlier this week. She highlights different bloggers and asks them to share what they carry in their purse. Normally I carry big purses but I am currently carrying a medium size tote and I'm loving it. I do try to keep it organized and sitting in the pickup line at school is usually a good time to do so...always multi-tasking. Back when I would read US magazine on the weekly I always found myself skipping ahead to their "what's in my bag" article to get a sneak peek of what the celebrities carry. So I thought it would be fun to share with y'all what I tote around with me on the daily and what my "essential items" are.
The bright colors and pineapples are perfect for spring.

  1. My LV Insolite wallet which I use a lot for a clutch. It fits everything even my iPhone.
  2. Betsey Johnson makeup bag for life’s little necessities such as hair ties, lip gloss, bobby pins, etc.
  3. I have a slight obsession with sunglasses and Ray-Ban aviators are one of my favorites!
  4. I keep 8 small vials filled with my favorite essential oils with me to use when I’m away from home.
  5. Colgate wisp mini brushes on those long days when you can’t get back home to brush…or when your kids forget to brush their teeth. Don't be grossed out we all forget sometimes right?
  6. Banana Sun Bum chapstick that just reminds me of being on the beach.
  7. Trader Joe’s Ginger Mints-These took awhile to get used to but now I love them and they are great for digestion. I also seem to go through a whole box while watching my son’s baseball games!
  8. My favorite pen from Walt Disney World…I’m a pen nerd and love the way it writes!
  9. Sharpies are always good to have on hand, especially when you have kids around.
  10. 10. My iPhone 6+ which you don’t see pictured because it’s what I use to take every single picture.
  11. 11. I had a World Market receipt that was hanging out but I accidentally set it on a puddle of water that was on the table. Oops! BTW...I never had a chance to use it.
So there you have it. Be sure to check out Vanessa's blog. She's a So Cal lifestyle blogger who always has a cute outfit to share or a great DIY! Happy Friday Y'all!

Try It Tuesday...Lilly for Target

"Palm Beach is a state of Mind." Lilly Pulitzer

Remember when I posted my Lilly for Target wish list at the beginning of this month? Well the day had come this past Sunday and when I was only able to order one item (an item that I hadn't even considered buying) online because everything else was sold out or available in stores only I debated whether I really wanted to venture out to Target to fight the crazies. To be honest, the excitement had kind of worn off. There were a few items from her home collection that I wanted to see, so after I finished my second cup of Joe and while everyone else was still sleeping, I decided to venture out. What an experience! I've never seen grown women act so ruthless over merchandise. I didn't get the napkins I wanted (stay tuned...I'll make them myself) but I was able to grab a few outdoor throws that I had my eye on. The orange tunic pictured above was returned and I did feel like the clothing was a disappointment. If I could have a do over I would have headed back to the home collection first and then made my way to the other products. I'm perfectly content with having my bona fide Lilly Pulitzer dress and a few Lilly + Target home goods.
Here's a close up of my Lilly loot:

Friday Favorites...Trays

Tray's just make everything prettier in my opinion. Whether it's on a coffee table, vanity, in your office or as in this case...serving tray's just make everyday objects come to life. My daughter had a few friends over earlier in the week and I made mini smoothies for their after school snack. I sliced  watermelon and decided to keep it simple and healthy. What I loved most was the girls excitement over the presentation of their snack (who would have thought?) and sometimes it's just the little things that can brighten your day. Cheers to the weekend!

A few of my favorite trays here, here and here.

Try It Tuesday-Easy as Shiitake...

roasted asparagus & shiitake mushrooms with shaved parmesan
I decided that our Monday night dinner needs a theme, so I stole Jessica Seinfeld's Meatless Monday for our family. Last night I made the recipe pictured above and I couldn't help but giggle as I was making it. Maybe it was because I couldn't wait to see the look on Mark's face when he sits down to eat a plate of veggies for dinner or if it's me just thinking of how little the kids complain about eating the green leafy stuff.  I know that with having two different "themed" dinners for the week I feel pretty darn good just "winging it" for the remainder. I thought it would be fun to throw in a couple of other random links that you might want to try just because this week has started off with some much needed good vibes.

I'm sold on any recipe that has six ingredients and is Easy As Shitake.

My aunt has me looking at Baby Foot for my next home pedicure. I've never heard of such a thing...

My bling phase has come and gone but for some reason I want to try these sandals on.

I want to whip out a can of spray paint and try an Ikea hack with this shelving unit.

Friday Favorites-Spring White Out...

One of my favorite looks for spring and summer is wearing all white. It's so on trend right now and I can't help but jump for joy every time I see an all white outfit. I'm so stealing this mannequin's look and wish I would have picked up this blazer last month in Florida. Mom, what was I thinking? I do have a cotton white blazer that I did actually wear more than I thought I would last summer. However, for that dressier look, this Relaxed Boyfriend Blazer takes the cake! Oh and of course...make sure you have stain stick on hand because murphy's law is usually in full effect when wearing white from head to toe ;)

Try It Tuesday...Organic Face Products

As our skin "matures", if you will, I think we all are looking for those magical face products that will make us look and feel young again. My skin is a little sensitive and dry and that's why I'm a lover of this Houston humidity and these three game changing, organic products.  I use them every morning and night to balance the redness that I sometimes get and to moisturize. After cleansing with a clarisonic, I mix one drop of the serum with two squirts of the toner and pat (key word is to pat!) on my face and neck. The toner that I use is for normal to oily skin, but the rose and red tea help to balance my chemistry out. Last but not least, I apply the renewal creme and let dry before I put on my face. Don't worry, these products won't break the bank and have you dipping into your "shoe allowance" to pay for those cute summer sandals you've been eyeing recently.

Easter Weekend...

On Easter Sunday we have taken on this tradition of affectionately "smashing" cascarones (confetti eggs) on each other. I had never heard of such a tradition before we moved here but when in Rome right? We are looking forward to this three day holiday weekend as I'm sure everyone else is too. Life has been way too busy lately and I'm looking forward to some quality family time. #truth. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend doing exactly what your heart desires...Happy Easter Peeps!

Oh Lilly...

"Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink"
-Lilly Pulitzer

View entire collection here
It's a bummer that I just took a trip to South Florida without wearing Lilly Pulitzer. Nothing screams "take me to the beach" as much as one of her dresses does. Oh...and by the way, Lilly Pulitzer's capsule collection is coming to Target on April 19th and I'm counting down the days. I wore one of her dresses to my brother's beach wedding years ago and it's something that I will never part with. I'm loving all of the pieces including the home, kids and beauty products and it's going to be a hard decision on what to buy...I want it all!
