Try It Tuesday- Spring Into Shoes...

If you know me, you know that it can never be too now...F-I-N-A-L-L-Y that it is truly warming up around here I can start wearing some of my sandals and sneakers that have been hibernating in my closet this winter. Shoes always fit and come back around in style so maybe that's why I have such an obsession with them! I've rounded up 6 pairs of great summer shoes that will put a spring in anyone's step. I have two pairs from this list that are in my closet just waiting to be worn. My Stan Smith's haven't had much love from me since February so it's definitely time to break them out this spring.  On a whim I picked up pair number 2 because they reminded me of a Pedro Garcia shoe without the sticker shock so the jury is still out on them. For now the four other pairs will remain on my wish list which will probably be a mile long before the summer is over.

Friday Favorites...Spring Things

moon cactus
I couldn't pass up this cactus at the plant store earlier this week. The pop of pink caught my eye and I just new it had to come home with me. My obsession with cacti is growing at a rapid pace and I'm not too sure why. If truth be told I'm sure I would be better at growing a cactus garden than an herb garden although I try every year. I've rounded up a few fun spring accessories, some new and some old that I can't wait to break out. Sometimes it's the small items that pull everything together.  It's been a great week and I'm looking forward to spending the next two days with my parents, watching some Spartan baseball and sunny skies. Happy Weekend Y'all...

Try It Tuesday with Chicken Tortilla Soup...

Tuesday night's are for tacos but it was definitely time to shake the menu up a bit from our usual ground beef variety. When I came across this chicken tortilla soup recipe,  I just knew this was the recipe to temporarily displace our Tuesday staple. It was a light recipe with minimal ingredients and looked fairly easy to make. I did take some liberties with the recipe to make it my own and it turned out to be a hit. I used can green chiles instead of dicing up a pepper and used a little less chicken than the recipe called for. Whip up quesadillas with this soup and OLE! to a new recipe for one of our favorite weeknight dinners.  Click here for the original recipe and don't forget to add a dash of tabasco or cholula for a little spice!

Vacay Recap-Life's A Beach...

beach essentials
I'm still trying to get in the swing of things coming off of our Florida spring break vacay. We were able to fit in everything we wanted to do plus our annual traditions of putt putt golf and enjoying the sunset plus s'mores on the beach at La Playa. I kind of feel like I need a mini vacation after vacation...Why is it always like that? Anyway, I'll get caught up by the end of this week but for the meantime check out some pics from our lovely warm, beach getaway. I'm feeling so thankful and I already want to go back...
Working with these "waves" to skim board
Putt Putt
Enjoying one of the few times a year Jack isn't wearing sport shorts
S'mores on the beach at La Playa
Catching the sunset with of my favorite pictures from our trip
Cheers to another beautiful sunset and to wonderful family memories made once again

Friday Favorites...

This week became busier than I expected but I'm o.k. with it because today at 2:35 our spring break begins! It's definitely time for a break from our regular routine and for some warmer temps. I'm pretty sure we'll enjoy every single minute of our relaxing week off. I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that it's the beginning of March...where does the time go? So here's a quick round up of my 4 faves right now and props to my mom for finding these heart socks...perfect with ankle boots for the spring and summer. If you don't own a Baggu tote it's time to pick one up. They are great to travel with. It's a breeze for me to fold up and the durable nylon makes a perfect beach bag because who has room to travel with a regular size one?
Here it is unfolded...obviously this isn't the one I have but this pic is better.
Have a great weekend and wonderful spring break if you're in Texas!

Try It Tuesday with Ficks...

Fick's Cocktail Fortifier in Lemon
If you partake in happy hour you'll want to continue reading. It's always fun to try new and different twists for your nightly libations. If you are looking for a little something to add to your bar menu I highly suggest Ficks Cocktail Fortifier. It comes in three flavors-Lemon, Lime & Ginger and as you can see from the above picture...we went with the lemon during our first go around. My husband's co-worker introduced this to him awhile ago and this just might be what you need to change up your favorite cocktail. It's "all natural" containing 6 functional ingredients consisting of vitamin b, milk thistle, electrolytes, amino acids, dandelion, and ginger root to help your body process alcohol a little easier. It claims to prevent hangovers, I can't vouch for that but I can tell you it is pretty tasty. We added 1/2 oz of Ficks Lemon to our favorite cocktail of vodka, club soda and a splash of cranpomegranate juice. You can mix it with any cocktail and I think I'll grab a Ficks Lime next time to try in our 'rita's. Come to find out, after I googled it in order to share it with all-time FAVE department store, Nordstrom, carries it! Woohoo, another great reason to try it because it's free shipping. Knuckles...Anyway Amazon, Urban Outfitters and even HomeGoods carries it and you can read more about it here

These would make great gifts or perfect to throw into an Easter basket...
Cheers my friends!

p.s. this isn't a sponsored's really quite delish and just sharing what I love.
