I love a glass (or even two) of bubbly and the occasional mimosa, but what I don't love is wasting half the bottle. Good champagne should not go to waste! The kids had been messing around with different healthy drinks and freezing them in ice cube trays so I thought why not try the same thing with champagne! I decided to freeze my leftover champs into an ice cube tray so I can pop a cube out and enjoy a mimosa on a special occasion or if I'm just in the mood! The result is fantastic.
My daughter's bedroom has been a work in progress for over a year and a half now. Yep, with life getting in the way and not finding the right bedding it has taken a lot longer than we expected. I love details and love that my daughter has the same taste as I do. As soon as we both saw Emily & Meritt's first collection at PBTeen awhile back we knew we hit the jackpot! They are great fashion designers and have now translated their unique style into their home decor. It has just the right amount of sparkle and whimsical flair that Ry was looking for. A gold, glittery music note that we found at an antique fair about three years ago and her black & white dress form were her inspiration pieces that we had to work around. I felt that her room should tell her story and I think we accomplished that. We have a few more details to complete but I took some pictures so you can see how we have made this collection our own.
At first she wanted bedding that was bright since her walls were painted white. It never felt quite right to her...
I always look forward to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year. A few of my favorites have already been sold out but as you know shoes are my jam and these five pair are worth sharing. As you can see I have a weakness for boots...
Ice cream sandwiches go hand in hand with summer. When we had some homemade chocolate chip cookies left over from a party last week my daughter thought it would be a good idea to make our own ice cream sandwiches for dessert. I love that she reminded me of such a simple, old time favorite to make. These are so easy to prepare and we definitely need to make these more often. Remember to let the ice cream get a little soft before you scoop it on your cookie. Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze to enjoy!
Put chocolate chips in the middle of cookie or on the sides to make it complete!
This long sleeved shift dress caught my eye recently while I was walking through...you guessed it, Nordstrom! The price was right and my daughter really liked it on me so I decided to bring it on home. It's always a good idea to have something in your closet that you can throw on in a moments notice and this is the dress for me. I wore it to an event with my daughter while we were in California on vacation and it was simply perfection. It's now on sale at Nordstrom for $29.49 so I figured it was my duty to share it with you. I love that it can be worn year round and I think the print is fantastic. Pair it with a fur vest or jacket in the colder months and you'll be all set!
Be sure to check back later this week for my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale favorites...
I kept eyeing these killer Free People overalls online and when my bestie bought them I couldn't get them out of my head. So when I saw them go on sale at Nordstrom a few week ago I didn't think twice to press confirm to complete my order! They came just in time before we left for vacay and I've worn them multiple times and couldn't be happier. They have quickly become my favorite to running errands in or for a night out! So if you're on the fence about this trend I suggest you try them and you can thank me later.
Southern California is one of my most favorite places to visit and we were fortunate to spend some time there last week. Although we didn't get to check off everything on our list of things to do we did spend some much needed family time together! I took this picture of the kids the first night we were there and it might be one of my favorites. They both love the beach and SoCal has everything we love to do. We fit right in or at least we think we do! I'm still trying to regroup but there will be more to come. You can check out more of our trip pics on my Instagram!
Happy Fourth of July and hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing holiday weekend! I'm looking forward to celebrating with friends tonight and then heading off to a wonderful, much needed vacation with my family. I'm not wearing this today but wanted to share one of my favorite outfits that I pulled together last week without having to buy anything new. My mood was a little boho with a splash of dressy so I paired this shirt with navy denim shorts...mission accomplished. Plus I told myself I was going to wear these shoes that I've had for years more often this summer. Check your closet...dig deep and pull a fabulous outfit together!
I love to make a simple breakfast when we have guests in town or when we have to rush out the door for an early morning sporting event with the kids. These "mini" pigs in the blanket are perfect to make for just these reasons. We have made the full version for dinners when the kids were little but never thought to make smaller versions of these until friends of ours made them for us when we were visiting them this past spring. They would make for a great appetizer as well. Small bites are sometimes just the right amount!
I used a can of crescent rolls and cut them in half before wrapping them around cocktail sausages to make 16 mini pigs in the blanket.
I used Applegate organic mini cocktail pork franks
If you're not the meat eating type just add cheese to the crescent rolls before you roll them up to bake!
