Try It Tuesday...

This past Sunday as I was surfing the internet I came across this blog and decided to make my favorite breakfast. No special occasion, it wasn't a holiday, I wasn't on vacation and my mom wasn't in town. These reasons are usually the only time I treat myself to this...
  Life is too short to not enjoy the things you love so I made "mini" lox and bagels. This time I prepared it a little different using homemade guacamole in place of cream cheese. My version of homemade guacamole is avocado, fresh lime juice and himalayan pink salt. It was so delicious and I'm already craving it again. Did you notice my vintage rooster cloth napkin I decided to bust out?
I also substituted a "mini" bagel instead of a regular size bagel. It was the perfect serving!

Friday Favorites...

This past week I have been obsessed with the color red. It's on my nails and my clutch and handbag that I'm carrying are red. Check out this pic I posted on my instagram to see for yourself.  I'm not one to usually wear this color but when it hits me it hits hard! Today I thought it would only be appropriate to wear red jeans with one of my new t's to end the week.

Try It Tuesday...

Breaking out the copper mugs for Moscow Mules

 I'm loving the warmer weather and our new happy hour cocktail.  Moscow mules are all the rage right now especially when served in a copper mug. This drink has been around since the '40's but we just jumped on the bandwagon especially after finding these copper mugs on sale at One King's Lane. Warning: the health benefits of drinking out of copper outweighs the condensation.
 Here's how we make ours:

*this makes one 16 ounce drink

1 1/2 ounces of vodka
Ginger beer (it's non-alcoholic)
Lime wedges
Copper mug-optional

How to
Fill mug with ice about 3/4 full
Pour vodka over ice
Squeeze juice from 1-2 lime wedges (use more to cut down ginger taste)
Fill the rest of your cup with ginger beer
Stir, garnish with lime and enjoy!

Friday Favorites...

My wardrobe is not formal by any means so I tend to keep my look comfy & casual.  The Gap always has great basic pieces and I can always count on them for a good sale. I have been looking for an inexpensive pair of destructed jeans for the summer and I found them along with a colorblock tank and a great sale last week. Pair these basics up with some killer shoes and jewelry and you can put this outfit on repeat all summer long.

This cady wrap bracelet is EVERYTHING right now and the nail polish I'm currently wearing is "find me an oasis" by Essie.

Try It Tuesday...

Berry Bliss Smoothie

This is one of my favorite smoothie's that I tend to make during the warmer months of the year. Plus my weekly goal is to eat two raw meals a day so sometimes this is my lunch. I follow Philosophie's Berry Bliss recipe for this drink but I do add coconut oil to it and substitute the berries for cherries. A lot of people don't like the taste of coconut so if this is you I would recommend using refined (instead of unrefined) coconut oil. The refined doesn't have the coconut flavor so you can still get all of the amazing benefits that this oil has to offer. 

8 oz Coconut Water
1 T Berry Bliss Protein/Superfood Powder
1 T Unrefined Coconut Oil (use refined if you don't want the coconut taste)
1 Banana
1/2 cup of Frozen Cherries
Goji Berries for garnish

Blend all ingredients and garnish with goji berries. Throw a cocktail umbrella in it to make it extra fancy!

Try It Tuesday...DIY Sugar Body Scrub

Last week I mixed up my own sugar body scrub with ingredients I had around the house. It smells so good I could just eat it...I actually did lick the spoon when I was finished making it. Yes, everything in this jar is edible :) Check it out...

Sugar Body Scrub
*makes 4 oz.
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup liquid coconut oil 
3 drops vanilla extract
5 drops lavender essential oil
Mix ingredients and store in an airtight jar.
Make sure to give your scrub a little stir before using. Don't worry about putting lotion on me you won't need it!

Another favorite of mine this week was owl watching at our neighbors house! We check on them at least twice a day and are finding them so fascinating...Hoo would've thought they would nest in our neighbor's flower box?

Try It Tuesday...fool someone with a cacao milkshake

Fool someone with this cacao milkshake.

If you love chocolate milkshakes then I have a healthy recipe for you to try. A cacao milkshake that you & your kids will love.
Cacao Milkshake

8 oz. almond milk
1 T cacao powder (I use cacao magic by philosophie)
1 drop of chocolate liquid stevia
1 banana
1 scoop of peanut butter (optional)

Blend and enjoy!

 Cacao powder is rich in antioxidants and is a great source of dietary fiber. I use philosophie cacoa magic because it also contains reishi, mesquite, tocos, maca, chia seeds and vanilla which all helps repair cells and protect against pain and disease.
 This is typically the kids after school snack. I put it in one of their favorite cups and stick in the fridge to make it extra cold.
