New Years Eve #OOTD...

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year and I hope you all did as well.  I'm still enjoying our holiday break but wanted to quickly post a New Years Eve outfit idea in case you are struggling with what to wear. I wore this to a friends Christmas par-tay and thought it would be perfect for NYE  because it's fun, festive and comfy. Plus it didn't hurt that I had everything in my closet and didn't have to make a run to the mall. I threw on a pair of bells with a long black henley, a faux fur and my favorite boots and off we went. Hope this helps and finish out 2014 strong my friends!

Around the house...

2014 Radko addition to our ornament collection
Our newest Christopher Radko ornament finally came in the mail and quickly made it's way onto our tree because as you know tiding days are dwindling. It's definitely in the top three of my favorite ornaments but of course it would be because you all know I have mad love for Cali brah. This month has flown by, but it has been filled with so much holiday excitement and fun get togethers with close friends and entirely too much studying by my middle-school daughter. I still can't believe that we will be celebrating Christmas and all of our usual traditions in just a few days with our family back home. Please tell me that I am not the only that has had sleepless nights this past week. I don't know if it is just me aching to get back home or hoping that I am truly prepared for Christmas.

I hope you all find the magic in this season and take this time to enjoy the little things. I'm ready to take a break for the holidays and here are a few pictures of Christmas around our house.
I love the simplicity of fresh garland on the mantel
And I also love a fresh swag at the end of our staircase
I know it's sugar overload but the kids love my sweet station I keep out all month long. The santa is a cookie jar filled with our favorite sugar cookies and trust me when I say the m&m's don't last long!
Great gift idea for tween girls to give to their friends!

Friday Favorites...

sweater//gap denim(past season)//nike sneakers(past season)
I have a new found affinity for navy blue and sneakers. Pants with ankle zippers have always been a no brainer for me but when I saw this sweater with the side zippers I knew it would make it's way into my closet. It's outfits like this that make running errands and kids around a breeze. You never know where a day will take you...this day we just happened to go to our daughter's basketball game. I had been in this outfit all day and yet I'm dressed casually and comfortably but with a touch of style, all while not wearing stretchy pants. I couldn't track my Nike suede wedges down last year to save my life, but it just so happens that they found me at the beginning of this past summer at the outlet mall for just a penny and yes...I felt like a kid in a candy store.
These wedges are almost impossible to find since they are from last season but if you are in the market for a pair of hi-tops I suggest these...seriously.

Around the house...Wrapping Inspo

I've finally stepped up my Christmas wrapping game this year. Wrapping has never been my forte but this year I wanted our presents to look a-mazing under the tree. After browsing the wrapping section in Target last week for entirely too long, I finally grabbed this ribbon and tape and decided to use the gold wrapping paper that I've had at home for quite some time now. I thought I would just put a single strand of ribbon and a few gift bows and leave it at that. As I was in my office wrapping a wave of inspiration came over me and I went to town using a few items that are in my desk. Baker's twine, white labels and stickers to the rescue! After taping the white velvet ribbon that I had just bought, I thought that adding a few rows of my red & white baking twine would take these packages to a whole new level! I used white shipping labels for name tags and thought my gold stickers would be a fun to use instead of writing their names on the packages. I was out of R's for my daughter so I  used her basketball number instead ;) I added an old school gift bow for the final touch. Fun right? Here's another great wrapping idea that I pinned on pinterest if the gold is a little too flashy for ya...

Friday Favorites...

So after throwing on this outfit, I loved it so much I had to stop in the nearest parking lot to take pictures so I could share it with you (I'm kicking myself because I haven't shared this with you earlier.) Crazy, I know, but every winter I buy a few quality sweaters to have on hand, just in case I need to take the chill off. The print, length and sale price of this sweater had me at first sight and when they didn't have it in my size in the store, I did what I do best and immediately tracked it down as soon as I got home. Lately, I've been into mixing patterns and I find myself gravitating towards stripes and plaids. This was the perfect outfit for a beautiful 68 degree day and lunch with a good friend at Hungry's in Rice Village earlier this week. Having a fresh ombre for the holidays was just icing on the cake...TGIF!

Around the house with Radko...

It's the most wonderful time of the year especially when you get to bust out your favorite Christmas decor. This right here my friends is one of my favorite Christmas ornaments. It's a Radko, it's big, it's glass and like all Radko ornaments, it took 7 days to make. Yes...7 days and each ornament is handmade which makes me love them even more. Click here to read about the week long process each ornament goes through. I fell in love with Christopher Radko ornaments years ago and I still look forward to trimming our tree with them. We add one ornament every year to our collection, whether it's a glass ornament or a box from the Shiny-Brite collection. We just purchased this one to add to our growing collection. It's a little reminder of our summer vacation this year. Here are a few other's we have been fortunate to collect through the years.
Maybe 2015 will be the year that they hang on a real tree! What are your favorite ornaments? Do you put up a fake or real tree?

Friday Favorites with a special coupon code...

It's always fun to try different brands when it comes to clothes. Although I do have my favorites, I always enjoy finding unique styles and brands to wear to mix things up a little bit. I was thrilled when eShakti, an on-line women's apparel company that offers sizes 0-36W + custom clothing, contacted me to sample one of their items. I'm simply amazed at their selection and while part of me wanted to order a colorful, fun dress I knew that I would get so much more wear out guessed it a light weight sweatshirt! With this particular piece, I had the option to customize the sleeve type & top length. I also had the option to order without the birds but I loved the idea of having this sweatshirt stand out in my closet among the sea of gray. What I didn't think about when ordering this was the feel of the embroidery on the inside. A little itchy my friends... I did wear a tank top underneath which helped tremendously. The cotton with a touch of spandex is super soft and it's an easy, loose fit that you can wear alllll dayyyyy longgggg.  I rolled up my sleeves, tucked the front in and sported these flying birds around town.
The color is listed as graphite gray but it's definitely more of a navy color as you can see here.
If you have never heard of eShakti take a few minutes to look around and I promise with all of the styles to choose from something will catch your eye. They might have the perfect holiday dress, sweater or sweatshirt that you've been looking for. I found them incredibly easy to work with and their shipping was speedy fast. Plus, it always helps to submit your measurements to make it a custom fit! We're all different shapes and sizes and like our clothing to fit a certain way. It's so fun to make little changes to make your clothing your own. What's even more fun is that they are giving readers of Life After Baseball a special discount of 10% off from now until 1/03/2015! You can also combine this discount with $30 off on your first purchase. I can't think of a better holiday treat ;) Use the code: lifeafterbaseball in the promotional code box to receive your discount.
You can also find eShakti on Pinterest, Twitter & Facebook.

*This was a sponsored post and the sweatshirt I am wearing was provided for my review. All of my opinions are my own ;)

Try It Tuesday...DIY Latte

It's that time of year where afternoon latte's are in full force. We went from a 70 degree outdoor fiesta Sunday night here at the house to 50 degree windy temperatures yesterday afternoon! was time to break out the coconut milk nog and put my barista apron on.
This time of year I usually buy So Delicious Pumpkin Spice Coconut Milk but when I came across this Nog I thought it would be fun to give it a try. Plus, I thought Mark might really like it. It's also nice to have cold-brew on hand when you don't have time to make a pot of coffee. Sometimes I save my left over coffee from the morning and stick it in the fridge to use later. While frothing the coconut milk-I have this frother-I heat my coffee, mix them together and enjoy a delicious DIY latte.
Off and running with my favorite holiday coffee to go cup and wearing she's pampered by essie.

Try It Tuesday...Thanksgiving Traditions

2012 Thanksgiving morning
I love traditions and moving to Houston 4 years ago we have started some of our own for the holidays. For the past three years, we have woke up at the crack of dawn on Thanksgiving morning to run 3.1 miles. The first year I threw this on the kids at the last minute and they complained about it from the time I pulled them out of their warm beds until we started the race. Last years run went a little smoother but man was it cold. This year I gave them the option of running the 1 mile fun run/walk and was surprised when they both said 5k all the way. Yippee!

We also made the decision that turkey is really dry and steak is so much tastier!  Here's our turkey day  menu- filets, twiced baked potatoes (this is something new we're trying), green beans & rolls. Sounds good & easy right? Don't worry, I do make a pumpkin pie to keep with our childhood tradition and this year I'm also making apple crisp for the kiddos.

You won't find us shopping tomorrow night but you will find us ending the night viewing Christmas Vacation...who doesn't love watching Clark Griswold and Cousin Eddie? This is a tradition we've had for years and one that will never die.

I'm taking the rest of the week off from the blog but you can follow me on Instagram if you want to see what we're up to! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and would love to know your family traditions.

Around the house...Holiday Tablescape

Holiday Tablescape

"The most wonderful time of the year" officially begins in four days and I couldn't be more excited! This time of endless preparation that culminates in wonderful gatherings of family and friends needs to be centered around a beautiful setting. With that said, I couldn't think of a more perfect time to piece together a fabulous tablescape for those special dinner occasions. My inspiration this holiday season is incorporating vintage with new and just a touch of traditional. I love the simplicity of this dining table from Modani because it gives me a clean, unfussy base with a traditional color that truly gives me endless possibilities depending on the occasion. Guest interaction is a must so I prefer keeping my centerpieces low and simple so as not to interfere with conversation. There's nothing worse than having to look around a tall arrangement to speak to the person across from you.
I love using lighted garland with a few candle votives to give warmth to the table. I'm really obsessed with gold right now, so I coupled it with just a splash of silver and a pop of color to tie everything together. These traditional plaid cloth napkins are perfect along with a vintage place card so there's no confusion on where my guests should sit. Last but not least, every meal should start with a toast in an elegant champagne flute.
How do you tablescape for the holidays? Are you looking to try something new and switching up your current style? I thought it would be fun to incorporate modern furniture for my tablescape to mix it up. I was amazed at the selection of furniture that Modani has to offer and their prices won't break the bank. It also helps that they ship nationwide if you aren't fortunate enough to have a location near you.
Happy Tablescaping!
