I have this lovely white and brown cowhide that greets everyone when they walk through the front door. Every Texan has one right?
It has been the best rug but last month it started to curl up in one spot and I had no idea what to do about it. My neighbor who is an avid hunter told me to put some type of oil on it.
Never happened.
I couldn't take the looks of it anymore so I googled how to flatten a curling cowhide hoping I could find an easy and inexpensive solution.
A link from apartment therapy caught my eye and thanks to this blog my cowhide is back looking beautiful again.
Check it out:
Cure:
Spray curled areas with water where it is rolled up with water about 5 times on top and bottom of the hide (you don't have to soak it.)
Make sure to put a towel underneath and on top after you finished spraying water.
Put something heavy on top to weigh it down...I chose a basket of baseballs! Go figure right?
I let them set on the hide overnight and guess what?
It worked! My hide back, flat as a board!
Try It Tuesday!
Baseballs saved the day!!!!!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the new "Ruggies" yet? They are sticky, but yet not sticky, things you put on the corners of your rug to hold the rug down. I'm sure Walgreens has them in their "As seen on T.V. Aisle! Mom
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, I hate it when they roll up
