Try It Tuesday...

Our decorations are up, costumes are picked and we finally carved our pumpkins this past weekend.
We are ready for Halloween...are you?

Every year the kids love to roast the pumpkin's such an easy and healthy snack to make.

Here's how:
Make sure you clean the seeds really's a little tedious but a must.
Seeds of two large pumpkins
I spread them out on a cookie sheet and let them dry over night.

In a large bowl add your seeds plus
1 T olive oil

Spread them out on two cookie sheets so they aren't on top of each other &
bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes.

Weekend Wardrobe...

I woke up to rain on Sunday morning and it was exactly what I needed to catch up from another busy weekend.
The weather has been fantastic around here. It's cool in the mornings, warms up to the low 80's during the day then cools back down in the evenings. The perfect weather to throw on a cute scarf, jacket and head outside for dinner & drinks.
Union Square Scarf-Frida Print with a jean jacket is the perfect pop of color.
I'm trying out the Allegra necklace with my James Perse button down camp shirt...what do you think of it?
Here's the Allegra with the Somervell necklace-Do you like the two together?
My Romeo & Juliet buffalo plaid ruffle shirt with a pair of jeans and boots was perfect for a fall day out and about.

I'm looking forward to another fun filled week and hope you are too!

FabFitFun Friday

After weeks of anticipation my fabfitfun box arrived yesterday afternoon and I couldn't wait to tear into it to see what Giuliana Rancic and her fab team had picked for us to sample.

Here are the deets of this quarterly monthly subscription box!
The anticipation is building...
I'm digging in...

Here's what I've been waiting for!

Gorjana Scarf
Love the gray and pink but the gray is a little darker than expected. It's light and will be perfect for fall and spring. They even threw in a $25 credit to use at I'll definitely take a peek.

Pur-lisse Milk Cleanser & Makeup Remover
Can't wait to cleanse away with this mild soap-free non-foaming cleanser. I'll see if respects my skin as it says it will ;)

Barre3 Standing Slim DVD and online program
I've been wanting to take a barre class so this dvd is perfect! I'll have fast body-shaping results in no time!

Starlooks 5 Shade Shadow Palettes
The shades in this palette are uh-mazing.

Orville Redenbacher Popcorn
I'm not crazy about this item. I don't buy microwave popcorn but I'm sure someone will enjoy trying it.

Surface Trinity Protein Cream
I'm excited about this! This is one of Allure's fave blowout cream hair care products and it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals.

SpaRitual Lacquer
Love this brand of polish since it's free of DBP, formaldehyde and toluene.
I've been into purple lately so this is perfect.

Health Warrior Chia Bar
I dig chia seeds so I can't wait to try this vegan bar.

Vitamins to replenish lost nutrients after drinking alcohol. Pretty sure I won't need & use these.

They also threw in a couple of coupons for a Bliss facial and a Pack-O-Fun cards from family and party games.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the products they chose and it was fun to get a box full of surprises.
Now the wait begins for my winter box to arrive!

Happy Friday Y'All!

Try It Tuesday...

Zucchini Spaghetti is my new favorite pasta!

This is so much easier & healthier than making regular pasta but I'm pretty sure it's going to take awhile to convince my family of that!

Let me show you how simple this is to whip up...

This is a julienne peeler and it is easier to use than a mandolin when cutting your zucchini into thin strips. I did see a spiral slicer on Amazon that will make the zucchini look more like a noodle which would probably be easier to trick the kids with but for now I'm sticking with the peeler.

Clean your zucchini and then place on a cutting board to begin the process.

I didn't peel mine but feel free to do so. Start slicing until you see the seeds and then flip over until you have sliced all sides. Go ahead and discard the center with the seeds.

Next you will need to salt and let your zucchini sweat for about 30 minutes. Zucchini is made up of a lot of water so this step is a must unless you want to make zucchini soup spaghetti!

I then sauteed in a skillet with olive oil, pepper and garlic for just a few minutes.

Then I added in marinara sauce and let it get acquainted with my zucchini to finish my spaghetti!

I would love to know if you have another zucchini recipe that you love.

Weekend Wardrobe...

We tried a new restaurant this weekend - Three Olives and it was delish with a capital D!
I thought since we were trying a new restaurant I needed to throw a new outfit together for the evening.
Decided on throwing all of this (nothing new here folks) together
jacket & slip/free people
jeans/rich & skinny
boots/sam edelman

Close up of my neck party
sanibel reversible pendant/stella & dot
avalon station necklace/stella & dot

So happy that it's boot and jacket weather around here!

Have a great week!

Mad About Plaid...

Plaid is definitely in for this fall and I'm loving it. I'm not sure if it's because I associate plaid with the holidays or if it's just because plaid is everywhere I look.

Last year at this time I purchased a navy plaid fitted button down shirt from J.Crew that I always wore with pearls. Plaid & pearls together? Yes please!
I drug it out yesterday and wore it with my Lucia Stella & Dot Bracelet.

Here's some other plaid that I'm mad about:

Venitia Ruffled Plaid Maxi

I ran into this dress last week in Free People and then again on Nordstrom's website. I don't know if I should take this as a sign but I know that I sure don't have the height to wear this but I love the modern twist on plaid here.

For a more traditional plaid there's the boyfriend fitted shirt:

I feel that she needs her sleeves rolled up don't you?

Also loving this one by Victoria's Secret

What's your favorite plaid for this fall?

Fall decorating with a modern twist...

Velvet Pumpkins
Are these gorgeous or what?

Luckily, I stumbled across these from Laura, a hollywood housewife  who I follow on IG.

Velvet pumpkins for fall decorating?
 Yes please!
I love the modern twist on these pumpkins. They are so simple, elegant and just plain kind of decorating for this time of year. Bonus is that I can keep them out throughout the fall unlike halloween decor which must go back in the tub the day after Halloween is over if you are anal like me.

Obviously, if you know me it's not a surprise that I chose to start my collection with the white pumpkins. If white isn't your color there are 43 different colors you can choose from at LoveFeastShop!

Although it took me a couple of weeks to pull the trigger I am so glad that these pumpkins are sitting on my dining room table. They put a smile on my face every time I walk by these cuties.
Also, be sure to sign up for their newsletter if you like their site. A couple of days after I signed up they sent me a 15% coupon code to use!

Happy Fall Decorating

Appetizer Platter on Try It Tuesday...

Last Friday night was our 4th Annual Witches & Wine neighborhood get together and I was in charge of bringing a cheese and cracker tray. I am a cheese lover so this was easy for me to put together. Well I did have just a little help from the cheese-ologist or whatever she calls herself at our local Whole Foods (love, love, love Whole Foods!!!)

Anyhoo...I used three cheeses-seaside cheddar, maytag blue and manchego. I decided to break up the cheddar and manchego instead of slicing it. Thought it gave the platter  a more rustic feel...
Fig spread is wonderful with blue cheese so I set some out to spread on the crackers and to top with the cheese. I ended up scooping it out and putting it on the same plate with the blue cheese (I forgot to take a pic)...I thought that part of the tray looked a little blah!
Add some olives, almonds and Applegate uncured genoa salami to the tray along with organic rice & wheat crackers and voila! You have a super easy appetizer to bring to your next gathering or Green Bay Packers game.

After a hectic but fun week I'm sitting here trying to figure out what I'm going to write for my Friday blog post.
I'm drawing a huge blank...probably because I am mentally and physically tired  from this past weeks events!
Last Sunday evening we had family pictures and coordinating all of our outfits consumed made me crazy for a week and especially last Friday and Saturday. But that's what happens when I start shopping for outfits the week before pics. Egads what was I thinking? Couple that with a 25 degree temperature change the day of the shoot and to say that things were a little crazy is the under statement of the year.

I finally pulled it all together...Sunday morning. Yes, Sunday morning when our pictures were at 5:30 that evening.

Here's a sneak peek:
n.cole photography took our pics and she was wonderful...awesome with the kids. Can't wait to see them and to hang our faces on our wall that has been bare ever since we moved in here.

In between returning clothes that we didn't use for the pictures and getting the house back in order
I went on two field trips as well this week and that has also done a number on me. Maybe because on one of them I held a snake for the first time.

Remind me to never wear this sweatshirt out in public again...

Didn't have time to snap a pic at Ryan's field trip because I was in charge of 14 kids while attending Twelve Angry Jurors at Seven Lakes High School. But I did take a picture of my olivia necklace that I wore to Ryan's Pep Rally that same evening.
Go Spartans!

dig it with the stripes right?
That was my week in a nutshell and looking forward to having a much more relaxing weekend (do you find yourself always saying and wishing for that???) and to receiving my first FabFitFun box soon!

Tempeh Try It Tuesday...

Tempeh anyone?

I never eat soy but this will be an exception when I'm craving chicken salad.
The hearty vegan was at my local Whole Foods sampling her Texas Tempeh and Texas Black Eyed Pea Tempeh a couple of weeks ago.
Vegan or not you will be surprised how good this Mock Chicken Salad is using Tempeh.'s Mark approved so you know it has to be good!

Super Easy Tempeh Mock Chicken Salad

(recipe courtesy of

1 block of Texas Tempeh

2 tsp yellow mustard
2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 green onion stalks, chopped
1/2 c Veganaise or other mayonaise
1 pickle, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, minced

Steam thawed tempeh for 20 minutes or frozen tempeh for 30 minutes then let cool in a large bowl. Cut into 1/2 inch cubes. Mix in all remaining ingredients and chill for two hours.

Day 1 under my belt...

Day 1 of the cleanse went pretty smooth.

Was I starving?
No, not until dinnertime but that was probably my fault for waiting to eat until 7:40 after all of the kiddos activities were done for the night. I wanted to eat with them (I'm big on eating together as a family as much as we can.)
It helped that I prepared my Monday dinner on Sunday...please call me "Suzie HomeMaker"

A headache is a symptom that some people have during the first 1-2 days. I started a little one around 4:00...that could be because I didn't have my cup of joe this morning or it could just be a symptom of all the craziness that starts around then with the kids. Who knows...nothing I can't handle so far.

Looking forward to another day of foraging!
