Halloween & Chivas

I woke up today and something wasn't quite right. I had a tough time rolling out of bed and you know that feeling of "ugh I think I'm coming down with something."
Mark and Jack felt fine but Ryan was a little under the weather as well.
I think, well I know what we have...It's an epidemic spreading across the Houston area called

Bieber Fever Baby!!!!!

We had the pleasure of going with friends to watch him light up the stage last night!
What a night to remember...these girls had the time of their lives!

We will be trick or treating tonight and then Mark and I will be choking down over priced Chivas in memory of Big Bob who passed away on Halloween night two years ago.
It's hard to believe that it's been two years...even harder to believe that he's not with us anymore.  Sure makes you stop to think how short life really is and to enjoy every moment of it. Let's remember not to take it so seriously, have fun and make lots of memories.
Here's to giving us many great memories and laughs throughout the years Bob!

Finally getting a little spooky around here...

We had a super busy, but great weekend! Two Stella & Dot Trunk Shows,  one football game and two baseball games later our outside Halloween decorations are up! Can't say that they are as good as last year but it's officially a little spooky around here. I ran to Michael's and Target to look for more spiders, etc to put up but obviously shopping 10 days before Halloween isn't going to help my cause.  I'm o.k. with it because I picked up a few things for the holidays so I'll be a little ahead of the game!
 Here's some pics...

Happy Monday and I hope yours didn't start off with a cold shower!

Texas mums-not what you think...

I grew up in Illinois and mums to me have always been the fall plants you see on everyone's doorstep in late September, October letting you know that summer is officially over.
Well, mums take on a whole new meaning around here during homecoming week...

The huge, ginormous corsage around my cousin's daughter's neck (would that make Lindsey my 2nd cousin once removed?)- is a Texas mum!  This is one of the exciting moments during homecoming week when you receive your mum from your date to wear to school and to the football game.
I'm sure this had to start out as a simple tradition of a boy giving his date a flower corsage for the homecoming football game. Texas, being Texas, had to take the corsage a little bigger and better... which doesn't surprise me one bit.
I don't want to know what the mother of the boy goes through this time of year...do they make these themselves? Do they get them professionally made? Nor do I want to know the cost of these...on top of everything else needed for homecoming weekend!
Yes, in case you were wondering the boys wear them too (on a much smaller scale Thank Gawd) on their arm.

I love traditions and can't imagine what these mums will be like when it's Ryan's turn...

BTW...guess who was rockin' the Medina Bib necklace from Stella & Dot today?

Lara Spencer from GMA...

Have a great weekend!

Hung from the 20 ft ceiling with care...

We had a productive, long weekend. The lights were hung from the ceiling with care in hopes that Mark will never have to go there...again.

After three failed attempts to get an electrician to come by the house (I miss Lantz Homes subs by the way)  all to have the dining room light (20ft ceiling) hung, Mark was finally called into action. After weeks of searching, we finally found someone that had a 16 ft A-frame ladder. The only problem is that just because you find a 16 foot ladder doesn't help it get any closer to your home, let alone walk through your front door and stand up by itself. Mark had to borrow straps from one neighbor, a diesel F-250 with 12-foot trailer attached from another neighbor and then lug that joker in and out (I helped lug it out of the house....HEAVY!!!)
You know how Home Depot will have little hammers by projects to let you know how difficult a task is before undertaking the job? Well Mark has his own rating system...It usually goes by how many times he says an infamous cuss word (F@$*)
Well this project was a 12-F*#% project with a couple of moms attached to the expletives at one point (probably would have been worse except for Jack had 2 friends over during the project so Mark was on his best behavior). Mark is available in the Houston market for all of your basic handy-man jobs if you do not mind a foul mouthed worker on your job site.

Shared office space...

As of today, Mark and I officially share office space.
Once he pulled this

out of his box from his last office I knew we were going to have to sit down and have a heart to heart about the decor in here. A big thank you to the St. Louis Cardinals for sending this to Mark but with a new job comes new office supplies. This isn't going to cut it for holding his pens/pencils. It didn't pass inspection here and it looks like I have some work to do in getting him organized.

Thank you Christopher Columbus for letting us sleep in this morning. We have no exciting plans today. Hopefully the painters will finish up this morning and I can get this house back to some sort of working order.

Enjoy your day for those who are lucky enough to have off!

#1. Mark's last day at his current job ends today!
We are so excited for him and I think a celebration is in order tonight!
We won't be celebrating here because of change #2...

Change of paint color for the house!
The fumes are fierce but it's going to be fabulous when they're done!

#3. Mark starts his new job Monday

Think PINK this month!

Today kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness month.
We have all been effected by breast cancer whether it was a friend, family member or co-worker. I have been effected by a family member and most recently my bff. We watch these women go through challenging moments of having their life threatened by such a horrible disease and we watch these women "fight like a girl" and come out stronger than they were before. Let's take this month to celebrate these women by wearing pink in honor of their fight.

This month Stella & Dot is launching a capsule collection of jewelry and accessories to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For each piece purchased during the month of October, 100% of  net proceeds will benefit the Noreen Fraser Foundation. This non-profit organization's mission is to raise funds for women's cancer research and create awareness around the importance of early detection. This collection has rose gold bracelets, zip wallets, tech cases and a beautiful bright pink scarf.

Please shop to show support through my trunk show on my  stella & dot website and remember that early detection for breast cancer saves thousands of lives each year.
