Seeking a green thumb...

I'm so looking forward to the weekend to-do list.

Here's #1 on my list and maybe you can help...

This has been in our pot since last November.  It's now the end of June and I'm thinking it's time to change it out to something a little more summerish...don't ya think?

I'm just not sure what to put in there...this area gets a lot of sun and I need something that's low maintenance.

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas??? I welcome all of them...

No Sew T-Tote...

I saw this DIY project on the Gap website and b-lined to my dresser to
GET AN OLD T-SHIRT
and then I grabbed a pair of scissors and a ruler and in 10 minutes I made the cutest tote...
Here's how:

Take your T and cut the arms off  as I did here:

Then cut around the neckline

Cut even strips anywhere from 5"-10" all the way across the bottom of T

Hold the top of the strip down and pull gently to stretch

Tie square knots along the bottom with strips

Here's mine and I would love to see yours!

Perfect for kids to do too!

Big League Dreams...

It was HOT...

After five months of playing 8U elite baseball I'm a little sad to say that our season is over. We have our weekends back again, but it always seems to be just a little boring without a baseball tourney. As stressful as it is (like taking the ACT with people screaming at you the whole time) I am going to miss the chaos.

We spent our weekend at Big League Dreams in League City, TX watching Jack and his fellow Spartans play their last tournament for the season. Our kids love to play there. All of their fields are replicas of big league stadiums of the past and two from the present. I will let you guess which two current MLB stadiums are represented. Click on the link above to check it out.

We were fortunate to have real seats to sit in, shade and an indoor restaurant/snack bar for the kids to spend all our money for the 10 hours we were there. They even inspect the kid's baseball bags prior to entry into the facility so as to not allow any contraband (Gatorade) into the stadium. Come on Man!

Bling, Bling, Bling. Man there is some kind of bling at these tournaments. I know that baseball is big in In Illinois, but everything is bigger in TEXAS, especially the bling baby. I definitely need to up my bling for next year...

Thanks to Coach Pursley and all the parents hard work for a great season...

Hands down...Best Banana Cake Ever...

I guarantee that if you sink your teeth into this Banana Cake  you'll never search for another recipe again. It's light, white and perfect for summer!

One of Mark's teammates wives that he played with back in the day gave me the recipe.
It's one of Mark's favorites so I surprised him with it for Father's Day.

So if you think this will satisfy your sweet tooth here is the recipe:

Banana cake

1 box of yellow cake mix
2 bananas (smashed)
3 snack size vanilla pudding cups
(yes, you can also make your own vanilla pudding)
Use 2 8" cake pans

Frosting

1 sm. carton whipping cream
2 T brown sugar
1 t vanilla

Make cake as directed.

Add smashed bananas to beaten cake mix

Pour into two greased round pans bake as directed.
Let cool 10 minutes and slice each cake in half so you have 4 layers

Spread pudding in between each layer-use 1 snack size cup for each layer

After you put the top on you are now ready to make the whip cream frosting.

Add your brown sugar and vanilla to your carton of whipping cream and beat with mixer until it thickens up.

Spread over entire cake and refrigerate

Don't forget to let me know if you think this is the best banana cake you've ever tasted...

Cabinet Chaos

As of last night my dishes have dwindled faster than my silverware has. Awhile back I mentioned how I only have 6 regular size spoons left out of twelve. Seeing that my silverware is going on 14 years I guess that really isn't too bad.

But my dishes are probably around two years old.

Notice anything different, out of place, missing perhaps???

The dishes that were on the empty shelf went here

and here

and here

The pictures don't do the mess I had on my hands justice.

Around 9:00 last night-yes 9pm I was dealing with this -I reached up to get a bowl down for Jack and within two seconds I had lost 4 cereal bowls, 9 appetizer- dessert plates (my favorite from C&B) and 9 glass prep bowls. The shelf came crashing down and I was standing in a sea of broken glass not to mention that Ryan & Jack were too.

Two things were going through my mind...
1.  So thankful that it wasn't  one of the kids getting the bowl down
2. So thankful that I had wine in the fridge

There was glass EVERYWHERE even on the living room rug which is about 20 feet from my cabinet. I'm sure I will be finding shards of glass for weeks to come.

Hopefully Crate & Barrel has a dinnerware sale soon...

Baseball, baseball and more baseball...

After spending 16 hours at the baseball field over the past two days, eating 6 pb&j's, 2 salads, 6 containers of chips, numerous bags of fruit and consuming countless gatorades & energy drinks for the adults and filling up "Nellie" with one tank of gas

,
The 8U Katy Spartans are
Champs of the Midsummer Classic Tournament

Everyone did their part including Ryan and her friend Lexi

Official baby sitters for the Katy Spartans

Just one more tournament to go and the season is over. Now off to finish my cup of joe so I can look for that perfect gift for Father's day-any suggestions?

This time last week...

For the THIRD time this year I was sinking my teeth into this last week.

You all...wait excuse me I live in Texas now...Y'all know how much I LOVE
In-N-Out burger and it still tastes just as good in Dallas as it does in Arizona!

This time last week I was also with my awesome family

and met my new "nephew" if you will

Gunnar...the newest addition to the family.
Absolutely LOVE him and so does everyone else!

We celebrated two graduations and made the most out of spending 4 days together!

Rushed home on Sunday so Jack could get to his baseball game to bring home 2nd place for the Katy Spartans-

Hated leaving Dallas and my family but so thankful we were all able to "gather" this summer!
