Christmas vacation starts....NOW

Here is Ryan Bray celebrating her last day of school before Christmas break. They all had a great time at their party! They played games, decorated cookies, and made a couple of crafts. I am so glad I signed up to volunteer today---lots of fun!

Here Comes Santa Claus

Finally, the kids went to see Santa Claus last night. Jack jumped right up on his lap without any hesitation and told him that he would like to have a talking ball. That's it....just a talking ball. Ryan gave him her list and was concentrating very hard.....she didn't want to leave anything out and was a little nervous that she would forget something. I think she got it covered and I think they are going to be very happy come Christmas morning!

2007 Family Tour

Well, most people head South this time of year but we like to head North. North that is to Madison, Wi where the high on Friday was 16 and there was a foot of snow on the ground. But that's o.k. because that is where my sister, brother-in-law and my nephew are and I would travel anywhere to spend a fun filled family weekend with them!
We had a wonderful time and made a lot of wonderful memories! The water park was great and I would love to go back. It made me feel like a kid again!! We made lots of cookies and even had time for some bowling. I think we need to have another re-match over the holidays! What do you think? Boys against girls? Let's do it!
Thank you Mcfarlands for everything!!!!! We appreciate it and can't wait for the 2008 family tour! Love you guys!

Can't wait to check out the indoor water park! Hope it's at least 85 degrees in there...The kids are going to have a blast and hopefully the adults will too. Off to finish packing so we can get on the road! Will report back with lots of pics!

Boooooring.....

O.k. after reading my sister's blog and Mutha's blog I realized how truly boring my blog has been. I mean, I have been aware that it is lame but I really need to start stepping it up. So, over the weekend I am going to try to put some exciting things for you all to read and to put a little pep in your step each and every day!

Promise.

Have a good weekend

Happy Belated Uncle Jeff

I just realized that I never wrote a birthday post for my brother Jeff who celebrated a birthday on October 23rd. Sorry about that Jr. We did wish you a happy birthday via the phone. We sure missed celebrating with you-the kids were really worried that you were not having a party and cake! I assured them that you celebrated but with more adult like beverages! We love you Jeff and here's to 27 years!

Happy Birthday Charisa Dee

Cheers to my sister who is celebrating her birthday today. I will have a glass of wine or shandy tonight in honor of you. Maybe I will have two since you probably will not be indulging in an alcoholic beverage. Have a wonderful day and we wish we were there to celebrate with you. We love you sis hons of buns and can't wait to see you next week!

Happy Halloween

Well another Halloween has came and went. A little glad to see it go to be quite honest with everyone. I actually enjoyed it earlier this month, put a little more decorations out than I normally do but enough is enough. Party after party, enough candy to last us all year, trick- o- treating and parading....it's a little much and I'm worn out. But here are the kids dressed up-they loved every minute of it and that's worth it to me!

Baseball Trivia

Who caught Hank Aaron's record breaking 716th home run ball?

Here's a hint:

He was a pitcher

Good Luck!

Glitter Time

Today Ryan, Jack and myself glittered pumpkins and it was quite a project! We took the idea from Jill at the Market Basket who did a fantastic job of glittering some pumkins for their wine tasting. Hers turned out a little better than ours did but the kids had a great time! Not bad for our first time!

Halloween Costume

HELP! Mark and I are going to a Costume party this month and I am looking for costume ideas. Any suggestions? We haven't been to a Halloween party in YEARS and I can say that I'm not looking forward to putting on a costume. Anything that is funny, easy, and cheap is right up our alley. Send your ideas in and you could be the lucky winner if yours is picked!

The Stink Among Us

After reading my sister's blog, I think I have finally figured out our stink downstairs in the kids play area. The culprit...a stinkin' Pottery Barn rug as well! The smell is very strong in the warmer months and it just stinks. These damn rugs....Charisa if you happen to come across any good "get the stink out" recipes please pass them along. The rug is too big to replace so I need all the help I can get!

Birthday Fun!

Jack a roo's birthday has come and gone! He had a wonderful birthday. The party was a success and we enjoyed visiting with family and friends! Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts! The cake didn't turn out as planned....it was supposed to be white but that is another story. Jack thought it was the best cake ever and I guess that's all that matters! Oh, the picture of Jack is from his first soccer game!

Happy Birthday Jack A Roo

Here's Jack who's celebrating his 4th birthday today! We love you Jack!

GOAL

Ryan had her first soccer game yesterday and Uncle Justin should be very proud of her! She scored her first goal! Pretty good for not even having a practice game! We were all so excited and I think she was a little surprised herself. They brought home their first win of the season...Go team Oakbrook!

First Day of School

It's here! The first day of school! Today went fast and pretty smoothly. She was so excited to get on the bus. Grandad, MeMe & Aunt Dee all came with us to the bus stop to wait for the bus! It was so fun and we took lots of pictures to capture the moment. Charisa-the picture of her in front of the door is for you! I was one of "those moms" that followed the bus and met her at school! I made sure she made it to her spot in the gym and into her classroom. Wow-I can't believe she is really in Kindergarten. Here's to the start of another journey!

Monday, August 20, 2007

1

Yes, 1 more day until Ryan starts school! We have talked about it for so long now and I just can't believe that we are going to be sending her off-on the bus-to Kindergarten. She is so excited and we are as well. Although I'm sure I'll be shedding some tears when I see her stepping onto the big yellow bus and waving to me from the window. So another new adventure starts tomorrow and we are looking forward to it.

Messy Art Day

Today was our 2nd Annual Messy Art Day at the Dacus's house. The kids had a blast playing in all of the different "messy" stations set up. They had their choice of the shaving cream tables (Jack a roo's favorite,) painting on paper or on themselves if they chose to, sprinklers, baby washing station, decorating a "treasure" box & binoculars and car painting. There were sprinklers set up for them to run around in as well! We all enjoyed the day and look forward to next year's messy day!

Update

I know everyone has been missing my daily blog updates- I was doing so well there for awhile but we have been traveling, the power went out and then I just have been busy with life! We had a wonderful time in Madtown & Chicago (I will post pics later this weekend.) It rained a little more than I would have like it to but we worked with it. We did get to the Mustard Festival in time before the rain hit and Charisa and I had the privilege to get our picture taken with the Queen of the Mustard! Most importantly, Charisa and I made it to Francesca's and bought matching dresses! Ha! It was a fun weekend and we were glad we were able to make it up North for a visit. It is now time to attend to my motherly duties for the day-will update more this weekend! Have a good one!

Ryan has lost her first baby tooth! She lost it today-8/02/07 and she first got it on 8/05/02! Almost five years to the day-both of her central incisor's came at the same time. We put it in a special box and the tooth fairy will be making a visit tonight! Hope you enjoy the pictures-it is also her last day of preschool. It's a big day for Team Little!

Kat Von D

My new obsession that is taking the place of my girl Jackie Warner. I will watch her until Workout comes back on.....Kat Von D. She will be the center of the new reality series on TLC called LA INK

Weekend Update

Hey ya'll....Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Ours was quite fun and relaxing. Friday night we attended a birthday party for one of Ryan's friends at the pool. We awoke to our garage shelf falling down around 12:30 a.m.-glad to know it was only a shelf falling instead of someone trying to break in!!! Mark used our lawn mower for the first time Saturday afternoon-quite exciting! We had a few friends over for a bar-b-q Saturday night and a relaxing Sunday at the pool. I actually stayed home and cleaned my closet!!Yippee! Yes, it is finally organized. Mom and dad are in Washington-just spent a few days in Yakima visiting our dear friend Mike Bell. He's the one that manages for the Yakima Bears. They are now going to explore Seattle until Thursday. Here is a picture of Mike and his children-Luke & Mikayla. C-ya

Babaloo

It was all about music and fun last night at the Edwardsville library park! Babaloo came to perform for all the kids and it was a night filled with a lot of dancing, singing, and running around. We topped it off with a trip to Annie's and then called it a night.

Zoo Fun

Aunt Dee and I packed up the kids today and headed to the zoo! We were driving over this morning, listening to my celebrity dirt on 107.7, and MJ used a colorful term describing someone as a stupid b!@#$. Guess who picked up on his term? Yep, Jack a roo-That was the next set of words out of Jack's mouth! Oh, I hope he has forgotten it by now! Aunt Dee & I did everything we could to hold in our laughs! It was a beautiful morning and we saw a lot of animals. Jack and I liked the penguins, Ryan liked the donkeys, giraffes, & penguins and Aunt Dee like the Cheetahs. We even saw the baby elephants dusting themselves-I have never understood why animals love to clean themselves in the dirt! We finished with lunch at the Boathouse in Forest Park. Love that place-next time we're going to take a paddle boat ride on the lake!

7.24.07

It was a big day for Ryan Bray today! Today we went school supply shopping at Wal-mart! She and I both were so excited-When I was younger I couldn't wait to go shopping for all of my supplies for the school year. Ahhh....the little things in life. We also ordered her backpack & matching lunch bag today as well! Can't wait to get it in the mail! So I think we are set for Kindergarten which starts August 21. I still can't believe she is going to be starting school in less than a month. Oh how time flies! so that was our day-Oh, one more thing. We had to drive over to St. Louis today because Mark walked out of the house this morning without his wallet. He needed his license to be able to pick up his game tickets for tonight and to drink a brewery fresh Budweiser. Guess I'm going to have to start checking him before he leaves for work everyday. I don't have room in my schedule to start running his personals to him wherever he is for the day.

FOUND!

Mark found our cordless phone! It was in the downstairs closet....I think I was to blame for this one!!!

M.I.A.

I find it funny that our primary cordless phone is missing....

Got Grass?

Mark will now have another chore to do around the house....cutting the grass! He purchased a lawn mower this weekend and he couldn't be more excited about it. It's something that he's been wanting to buy for a long time now but there was never a reason to do so. We had to move our outside beer fridge to the basement so we could make room for her! He's looking forward to his first cut-We'll see how long that lasts!!

Craziness

In-N-Out’s coming to NYC. Take that LA and cows! [DListed]Check out www.goodeats.orgThe article on In-N-Out possibly setting up shop in NYC is interesting because they have always said they wouldn't move East. Hmmmm....selling out maybe? St. Louis would be a great market for them...Edwardsville even better!

Jack Update

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Jack is doing well. He saw the doctor this morning and he said that his burn is healing quite nicely. So that is good news to us! The bad news is that he has to stay home/down for another week and no swimming for at least 2-3 weeks. I can handle the no swimming just as long as he heals fast and 100%! Also, pretty soon, as long as the wounds aren't weeping-it doesn't have to be covered! That means no more bandage changes!YIPEE!!!

Wonderful Weekend

Friday kicked off with a family dinner at the McNeill's house. Walls attempted to grill hamburgers.....after he brought them in they had to go in the oven to finish cooking since they were RAW! They turned out to be one of the best burgers I have ever sunken my teeth into! It was a nice night visiting with everyone and had some good laughs as usual with Wally around! OH! Ryan has a loose tooth-she bit into a piece of corn and it knocked her bottom tooth loose! Did a lot of minor repairs around the house yesterday-Jack has kind of kept us homebound so I seem to be getting some things organized & cleaned up around here! His burn is looking a lot better but still a long way to go until he's 100%. Last night I had Chicken Piccata for the first time and it was FABULOUS! Sue made dinner for us and we had another wonderful meal and great conversation!! I'm going to attempt to get my closet organized today-what a mess that is. I need New Space in a bad way-hope everyone had a good weekend!

Papa tomato is walking down the street with his baby tomato. Baby tomato keeps lagging behind-so the papa tomato walks back to the baby tomato and steps on him and says.....KETCHUP! This is our first official tomato of the summer and can't wait to eat it-probably would have had a couple more by now if Jack a roo wasn't so curious!!! It looks like a ball bud but it's not!

35!

Here's to 35 years Mr. Toots! Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear Mark Happy Birthday to you.....and many more. Can't wait to see you tonight! We Love You

What do you think about this?

Wii has arrived!

Oh my gaa-Wii is going to give us a lot of family fun and soreness!!!! My arm is so sore today I can barely pick it up. If we don't answer the phone or door, there's a good chance that we are huddled downstairs playing Wii. Don't be scared and come give it a try!

Robin in the Rain

Ryan's first and -maybe last- dance recital was a hit! They put on a great performance and had so much fun. Their costume is supposed to resemble a robin but I think they looked more like chickens!!! Either way they stole the show!!!

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE

I just googled my mulch fungus to see if there was a name and what I can do about it...It seems like other people have this same problem and they call it....Are you ready for this?.......DOG VOMIT SLIME MOLD!!! One person said I should embrace this...Are you kidding? Would you like looking at this everyday?

There is a Fungus Among Us!

Holy Cow! Tell me, would you petrified if you walked out your front door this morning to see this in your mulch? I thought maybe it was some kind of animal marking his territory but come to find out it's just a fungus. Thank Goodness!

Monday, May 28, 2007

Oh My Ga

I'm getting a little worried...I haven't seen my hummingbird in well over a week. Any suggestions?

Rainbow Rocks!

Here it is...the latest edition to the backyard.

Ruby-throated hummingbird

I'm happy to say that I have officially attracted my very own humingbird. He is so cute-a ruby throated humingbird to be exact. What a tiny little thing-would have never thought I would get so much enjoyment watching him! I always find myself going to my bedroom window hoping to catch a glimpse! Check out this hummingbird site for some fun facts!

PeePah Prices

After reading Charisa's blog today-I had to comment on the outrageous price of pizza these days unless you have a coupon that fits your feeding needs. I called Pizza Hut last night to order a large pizza-it was going to cost $16.99 and that is w/out the delivery charge and tip! That's insane!!!!! So I packed up the kids in the car and drove to Little Caesars and purchased a large cheese pizza, crazy bread & sauce and a 2-liter of sierra mist for a whopping $9.58!!!!! Can't beat that and their crazy bread rocks your taste buds. Even have some left over for lunch today :) Have a good day and I will try to post a little more often!

The Fire Inside

Last night Jack wasn't feeling well and he had a temperature. We gave him his Tylenol and he slept sound through the night. This morning when he came in for our wake up call, I asked him how he was feeling. His reply was "the fire is still inside my head!" I have never laughed so hard at one of his comments. I'm sure this is the start of many since he is talking non-stop now. Ah, one of the many joys of having children :) What a good way to start my day.
